Copmanthorpe is a rural village at heart with some fairly narrow roads and very limited on-street parking so the organisers ask everyone attending Carnival events, especially the Carnival Day, to travel by foot or public transport if at all possible.

On Carnival Day parking is not permitted at the Recreation Centre or on the roads nearby to ensure access for emergency services and buses and we ask everyone who must use a vehicle to comply with parking restrictions and to park with consideration for residents and other road users.

There is no parking at the Recreation Centre on Carnival day for visitors or stall holders, with the exception of blue badge holders.

The village is served by both Coastliner and Connexions (route 13) buses and is only a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Askham Bar Park and Ride site if you use the service from York city centre.

Copmanthorpe is just off the A64 and may be accessed from both the A1237 or A1036 junctions and the Carnival takes place at the Recreation Centre, Barons Crescent, Copmanthorpe. YO23 3YR.

Drinks Policy:

The Carnival is licensed to sell alcohol and there will be several bars on site. The licence means that only alcohol purchased on site may be consumed within the Carnival boundary. Bag searches will be conducted on entry and our security personnel will remove any unauthorised items

Dogs Policy:

Please note that, as Carnival takes place on the Recreation Centre playing fields, we have to prohibit dogs.  This ban operates throughout the year for health reasons. People with dogs will, regrettably, not be allowed entry to the Carnival.  This applies to visitors and stall holders without exception.
