Copmanthorpe Carnival are delighted to bring you the very best local bands from York and Yorkshire.  This year’s line up is:

The Bands:

  • Dr Philosfunk.  A three piece middle class pop-rock FUNK.  Dr Philosofunk pride themselves on performing songs that make people feel good and feel funky. From slapping bass solos, roaring guitar solos and thumping drum solos … the Dr is always on call baby

  • Your Illuminations.  Brand new Anthemic pop-rockers ‘Your Illuminations’ have been on a non-stop rise and now are set to explode onto the international scene.  With a sold out UK tour and an iTunes top 10 under their belts, it seems the sky’s the limit for YI.

  • Acko Pulco and the Cliff Divers.  Acko Pulco and The Cliff Divers  are a vibrant and frenetic Bordertown Tex-Mex dance band – an eight piece comprising former members of The Bogus Brothers and The Goosehorns, amongst others. With a heavy leaning towards The Mavericks and The Texas Tornadoes, all the emphasis is on projecting their own onstage good time feel across to their audience.

  • The Mothers.  Highly-experienced in providing great entertainment and performing at the highest-level, The Mothers play a combination of classic rock , current indie, and  some funk, with covers from artists such as The Who, Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs and James Brown.

Heavily influenced by some of her favourite musicians from The Weekend to Aretha Franklin, Stanne gained an urban twist on her pop sound with her favourite sounds and styles of urban music

  • Kymberley Kennedy.  From feature to solo artist, Kymberley Kennedy was propelled into the limelight following the release of her debut EP, Blackout. Together with her band, Miles Williams (guitar) and Steve Wilkinson (keys) they form a trio of musicians whose music has been described as a fusion of glacial piano lines, ethereal vocals and almost-spectral guitars.

  • The Mix.  This four piece band have built up an extensive catalogue of covers, ranging through a unique blend of rock, pop, funk and modern anthems. The Mix is made up of highly experienced and versatile professional musicians, who between them have supported acts such as Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys and have appeared on Radio One, performed at Glastonbury Festival and have recorded at BBC Maida Vale Studios
